This large area at a dog kennels in Welney had been laid badly by a previous contractor, with no edgings, no proper sub-base and no straight lines. The team carried out a complete rip-out and started again from the ground up: a fresh dig-out, a new compacted sub-base and new laying course, then a tight herringbone of charcoal block paving in place of the old red blocks. Solid edge restraints were installed throughout to lock the pattern in. The work was completed quickly to keep disruption to the kennels' customers to a minimum.
The finished surface is a smart, uniform expanse of charcoal blocks running cleanly up to the buildings, with the herringbone bond giving it both strength and a tidy, professional appearance. Crisp edgings and true lines replace the earlier mess, and the darker blocks sit well against the white rendered walls. Built on a proper foundation, it is a hard-wearing, practical surface suited to the daily traffic of a working kennels. A solid result from a full groundworks and paving rebuild.
