We transformed an outdoor space in Taverham with a contemporary porcelain patio laid in a pale cream tone. The old patio was removed and the groundworks reworked, including new drainage with channel drains run across the paving and pipework concreted in during the dig. Rendered planter beds were built around the edge of the patio, finished with dark capping and fitted with wall lights for a dramatic night-time effect. Double steps were wrapped around the doorways in a deep charcoal border to give easy, generous access in and out of the property.
The smooth cream porcelain gives a bright, modern surface that contrasts smartly with the dark step borders and crisp rendered planters. By day it is a clean, low-maintenance entertaining area; by night the wall lights wash down over the render and paving for a calm, atmospheric setting, shown off nicely with a feature ornament between the drainage channels. The wrap-around steps make the patio feel connected to the home and easy to move around. It is one of our favourites for its modern, practical style.
